Dr. Steven Brinsko is a retired professor of Theriogenology and associate department head for academic programs in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (VLCS) at the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS). He also held a joint appointment in the Department of Animal Science at the Texas A&M College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. He received his DVM from the University of Florida, his MS from Texas A&M University, his PhD from Cornell University, and is a diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists, of which he is a past president. He is the chairman of the Theriogenology Foundation’s research grant committee.

Dr. Brinsko has an extensive list of publications relating to both mare and stallion reproduction and is a frequently invited lecturer on these subjects. Along with Dr. Terry Blanchard and Dr. Dickson Varner, he is the primary author of the popular textbook, Manual of Equine Reproduction. His research emphasis has included early embryonic loss in mares, the effects of pharmaceuticals on semen quality, sperm membrane lipids, and methods to improve the quality of preserved semen.
